Check the weight of your hold luggage
Check the weight of your hold luggage as most airlines have hefty fees for luggage being overweight.
Also, check the size of your containers with liquids in your carry on luggage, many airports do not allow containers with liquids over a certain size in your carry on luggage.
Check if you need a Visa
When you have decided where you want to go, check if you require a Visa to visit a country and check how long they take to process your visa request. Apply for a visa early to avoid any problems.
Check if a visa is required for a country at Passportindex.org. Click on your country’s passport, click Mobility score, then hover over the country you intend to visit to check if a visa is required
Check the expiry date on your Passport
Check your passport expiry date to ensure you can enter a country. Many countries require at least 6 months left on your passport prior to entry.
Check exchange rates
Have a general idea of the exchange rate before leaving home to give you an indication of what kind of deal you are getting on currency exchange.
Changing currency at airports
Try not to change your currency at the airports, you will usually be able to secure better rates elsewhere.
Carry minimal cash
Don’t carry large amounts of cash around as most countries have ATM or cash machines these days.
Bags on trains
On trains, especially in Asia, do not leave bags next to an open window. The window may be opened quickly from the outside and a hand snatch a bag within a second.
Be careful in crowded places
Pay particular attention to your belongings in crowded situations, such as queuing for tourist attraction or onboard a bus/ train. This is when pickpockets have the best opportunities to steal your possessions.
Air sickness
If you are susceptible to air sickness choose seats by the wing. In theory, these seats should give you the smoothest ride on the plane.
