The enormous duty-free Zona Libre is on the southeastern edge of town. Even though it is open to the public, the Zona Libre caters mostly to wholesalers.
Colón’s other cruise port, nearby Cristobal Pier, features a crafts market stocked with souvenirs and gifts such as embroidered sundresses and tablecloths, beautiful baskets and detailed woodwork. Zona Libre goods, including sunglasses and electronics, are also available.
Colón 2000, the modern cruise-ship port that runs along Colón’s eastern shore. The dozen or so shops sell a variety of duty-free electronics and jewelry as well as Panamanian handicrafts.
